Why AI initiatives stall

Momentum is easy. Measurable value is not.

Most organisations are past the experimentation phase and stuck before scale. The reasons are consistent — and rarely technical.

No accountable executive owner

AI sits between IT, data and the business with no single mandate.

Pilots without baselines

Nobody knows the pre-AI number, so ROI can’t be evidenced.

Governance bolted on late

Policy, oversight and vendor DD arrive after risk has crystallised.

Adoption confused with licences

Rollout is declared complete when the tool ships, not when behaviour changes.

What the assessment measures

Six dimensions that separate scaling AI from stalled AI.

Strategy & Leadership

Executive ownership, vision and investment posture for AI.

Use Cases & Business Value

Prioritised pipeline, baselines and benefits tracking.

Data Readiness

Data quality, ownership, accessibility and lineage.

Technology & Integration

Architecture, integration patterns and scalability.

Governance, Risk & Security

Policy, oversight, privacy, cyber, IP and regulation.

People, Skills & Adoption

Workforce capability, training and change adoption.

From experimentation to measurable value

Progress is a plotted course, not a leap.

The most valuable moves at Emerging maturity are rarely the most technically impressive. Governance, owned data and a scored pipeline usually unlock more value than the next model upgrade.

The CTOmetry approach

Assess → Prioritise → Govern → Implement → Measure.

Assess

Evidence-based read of maturity, risk and value.

2

Prioritise

One scored pipeline; kill the noise.

Personalisation, next-best-action and pricing intelligence.

Productivity

Governed copilots in finance, legal, HR and engineering.

Risk reduction

Continuous control monitoring and anomaly detection.

FAQ

Straight answers on how this works.

Is my data confidential?

Yes. Answers are stored securely on our platform. We never share individual assessments with third parties.

How does scoring work?

Each dimension is the mean of its five statements, normalised to 0–100. The overall score is the mean of the six dimensions. Levels: 0–20 Unprepared, 21–40 Exploring, 41–60 Emerging, 61–80 Scaling, 81–100 AI Enabled.

How long does it take?

6–8 minutes for one respondent. Progress autosaves, so you can pause and resume on the same device.

What happens after I finish?

You see full results immediately. Optionally request a board-ready report, book a 30-minute review or retake the assessment.

Should multiple people take it?

Yes. For a more robust read, we recommend the CIO/CTO, a business sponsor and an operational lead each complete it and compare.
